The LBDA’s mandate as enshrined in the Act of Parliament, Cap 442, empowers the Authority to:  
i.    Carry out integrated sustainable development planning,
ii.   Implement development programmes and projects,
iii.  Coordinate development programmes and activities,
iv.  Promote management and conservation of natural resources,
v.   Monitor and evaluate development programmes and projects.

 Strategic Objectives for the Plan Period 2012-2017

LBDA has developed the following strategic objectives to catalyse the improvement of the living standards of the people within the Region. The objectives are:

  • Formulate and implement twenty five (25) sustainable    integrated   basin-based development programmes,
  • Enhance sustainability in all areas of operations,
  • Increase market share of LBDA’s products and services by 10%.
  • Enhance institutional and human capacity for improved performance by 25%.
